Ways to enjoy your drive

Driving tips to make your drive more enjoyable

The average American commutes 26.1 miles one-way to work each day, resulting in 5 hours spent on the road weekly. We've gathered some tips to help you make your drive more enjoyable and to share the road with other drivers more harmonious.

Tip #1:  Sing along to your favorite songs, it can reduce your stress! Refrain from cursing out fellow drivers. Many people can read lips!

Tip #2:  Why not give a friendly wave to your fellow travelers? Flashing rude gestures could easily lead to a road rage incident.

Tip #3:  Invest in car-friendly beverage cups and easy-to-eat snacks that won't leave crumbs everywhere or stain your clothes. Believe it or not, a lot of accidents are caused by drivers trying to eat or drink things that aren't good choices for consumption in vehicles. Leave the soup for when you get home.

Tip #4:  Don't speed up to cut in front of someone. It's much safer to slow down a bit to find a nice wide opening when you need to change lanes. Many people leave a gap between themselves and the vehicle in front of them to avoid tailgating. If you slide into that spot, you just might be contributing to congestion.

Tip #5:  Keep a box of tissues in your vehicle. No one wants to see you *ahem* cleaning your nose sans-tissues.
