Fiat Chrysler Company Creating Jobs, Sharing Good News

Fiat Chrysler has good news for the residents of Detroit, Michigan. They've recently pledged to hire Detroit residents at its Jefferson North and Mack Avenue assembly plants. The good news doesn't stop there, though. FCA is committed to investing $13.8 million to Detroit for community causes such as education and workforce training.

In total, $35 million will be provided for community benefits surrounding the FCA Detroit plans, with the city of Detroit also contributing $17.4 million and another $4 million being supplied from federal and state sources.

According to press releases, FCA will give Detroit residents priority, preference and early notification of available jobs when hiring for the 4,950 jobs that will be created after the two Mack Avenue engine plants are converted to Jeep assembly lines.

In addition to strengthening the workforce, FCA is providing $5 million to help develop future workers. One million of this funding will be used to create a career academy at Southeastern High School which is located one block from the Jefferson North complex.

FCA has been working closely with the Mayor of Detroit along with a citizen advisory council to reach agreements for a multitude of community improvement projects. The goal is to have all investment plans approved by City Council on May 7, 2019.
